The production method of crankcases are typically using the high-pressure die casting process, a manufacturing method in which molten metal is injected into a mold cavity.
Here are the exact steps and process:
Design the crank case mould
Prepare the metal material
Molten metal
Casting process
Cooling
Reprocessing

Steps of the production method of Crankcases
Design the crank case mould
- The initial step in the die casting process is creating a mould. This mould is usually made from steel or aluminium and is designed to withstand the high temperatures and pressures of the die casting process.
- Mould design begins with developing a CAD design of the required crank case mould.
- This design is then used to create a crank case mould by CNC machining, which is further used in the casting process.
Prepare the metal material
- And the next step is to prepare the metal for injection. The crank case is mainly usealuminum alloy material.
- The furnace melts the aluminum metal, and then poured into a ladle.
Molten metal of the production method of crankcases
- The pouring of molten aluminium metal from an external melting vessel into an unheated pressurized or cold chamber.
- Molten metal can be done manually, mechanically or by pumping.
Casting process of production method of crankcases
- The hydraulically operated plunger pushes the liquid metal at a slow speed to fill the front of the press chamber and to accumulate at the front of the inner gate.
- This phase allows sufficient time for the air in the press chamber to escape and prevents the liquid metal from spilling out of the gate.
- The plunger pushes the liquid metal at high speed into the crank case mold cavity, where it is cooled and solidified while maintaining a certain pressure to obtain the finished crank case product.
Cooling
- The die casting machine rapidly cools and solidifies the aluminum metal under high pressure inside the crankcase mold.
- When the metal is fully cured, the crank case mold opens and the finished crank case product is ejected and removed from the mold.
Reprocessing
- According to the need for further processing and treatment of the finished crank case product, such as deburring, surface treatment, etc.
Haichen’ crankcase manufactured by cold chamber die casting machine

Haichen is a die casting machine factory located in Ningbo, China, mainly supplying cold chamber die casting machine, hot chamber die casting machine. Besides we also supply some auxiliary machines for die casting machine. And we have rich experience in producing crankcase.
Advantages of Haichen die casting machine
Complex shapes: Haichen cold chamber die casting is a process that can produce complex shapes with tight tolerances.
Increased strength and weight: Haichen cold chamber die castings are stronger than injection molded parts with the same dimensions. Compared to other casting methods, thin-walled castings are stronger and lighter in weight.
High accuracy: Cold chamber die casting is capable of producing parts with high dimensional accuracy and smooth surfaces. Due to its high-pressure injection process, the metal cools rapidly in the mold, resulting in smaller grain sizes and good mechanical properties
Through the above steps, the high-pressure die-casting process is able to produce crankcases with high precision, complex shapes and lightweight characteristics. This process is particularly suitable for the production of motorcycles, automobiles and other internal combustion engines in the key components.
