Major maintenance involves replacing or rebuilding important components. Such as entire mold cavities, mold sections, complex core sliders, tool steels, coatings, or major mold finishes.  

Surface treatment :

In order to prolong the service life of the mold tool, it is necessary to carry out sandblasting and grinding on the surface of the tool. These treatments can reduce wear and tear, which in turn extends the life of the mold.

  • Under the action of electrostatics, the powder adheres to the surface of the workpiece, forming a uniform coating. This method results in a long-lasting, uniform finish.  
  • Baking paint: Baking paint is a method of curing coatings by high temperatures. It can improve the corrosion resistance and aesthetics of die castings.  
  • Oil injection: Oil injection is a method of spraying oil mist onto the surface of the workpiece under high pressure, which can improve the lubricity and corrosion resistance of die castings.  
  • Oxidation treatment: Oxidation treatment is a method of forming an oxide film on the surface of the workpiece through chemical reaction. It can improve the corrosion resistance and wear resistance of die castings.  
  • Sandblasting: Sandblasting is a method of removing impurities and burrs on the surface of a workpiece by blasting sand particles at high speed, which can improve the surface finish of die castings.  
  • Electroplating: Electroplating is a method of forming a metal coating on the surface of a workpiece through an electrochemical reaction, which can improve the corrosion resistance and wear resistance of die castings.  
  • Vibration grinding and polishing: using vibration grinder, centrifugal polishing machine and other equipment, the use of grinding stone, abrasive, water, etc. in the process of high-speed vibration (rotation) friction with the die-casting to achieve the effect of removing burrs and polishing the surface.  
  • Correction: When a die casting is deformed due to solidification shrinkage, ejection deformation, or cutting edge deformation, it needs to be corrected.  
  • Manual work: Utilize simple tools such as mallets, files, pliers, etc., to remove excess parts such as casting pouring systems.  
  • Cleaning and degreasing: use equipment such as vibrators and belt grinding machines to grind, deburr, shot blast and sandblast the surface of die castings.

Then, the grease is degreased by spraying at room temperature to remove the grease on the surface of the blank.

Precautions

Before the operation, it is necessary to complete the equipment inspection according to the inspection table. And understand the status of the equipment, and make corresponding records.

Check the status of the water and air channels to ensure that the air pressure is normal. And the valves are in the correct position.  

Waste lye and cleaning wastewater will be generated during the mold cooking process. And these wastewater need to be properly treated to avoid environmental pollution.  

If any unsafe situation is found, the operation should be stopped immediately. And the relevant person in charge or safety supervisor should be reported in a timely manner.
